The Drum and Fifes was originally used in the revolutionary war by General George Washington to give direction to the troops on the battlefield. The Drum and Fifes team is used to gain experience and discipline, work well with other cadets as a team, develop leadership roles at different levels, gain skill of playing various pieces of music various formations, gain experience with various instruments, become a musician, earn ribbons and different awards, and play in various events.
