Summer School/ Credit Recovery

Summer School / Credit Recovery Information

If your child has failed academic coursework in one or more core subjects, including:  Math, Science, English, and/or Social Studies, the Beaver Area High School offers summer school as a way for students to complete courses that were taken and failed. With successful completion, students earn credit towards graduation for any course that is taken during the summer program.  However, the original failing grade remains as part of the student’s record and GPA. Students can take a maximum of two classes during the summer program.

Students can sign up for any academic core subject that has been taken and failed. Biology and Algebra 1, however, must be retaken during the school year. Summer school can only be used to make-up Biology and/or Algebra 1 credit after the course has been attempted twice during the regular school year.  Otherwise, students cannot expect to perform at the proficient level on the corresponding Keystone Exams.

For more information regarding summer school please reach out to your child’s school counselor. Guidelines and pricing can be provided by your child’s counselor.
