Chapter 1 - Classifying Living Things

LESSON 1
In this lesson, we read about classifying all living things.  We discuss the 6 kingdoms of living things.  We also find out about smaller groups and scientific names.

LESSON 2
In this lesson, we read about how scientists classify the animal kingdom.  The animal kingdom is broken into two smaller groups - vertebrates and invertebrates.  These two kingdoms are broken down even further.  There are 5 groups of vertebrates: mammals, reptiles, amphibians, birds, and fish.  We discuss 3 groups of invertebrates: arthropods, mollusks, and worms.

LESSON 3
In this lesson, we read about how the plant kingdom is divided.  There are two groups of plants that we discuss - plants with tubes (vascular plants) and plants without tubes (nonvascular plants).
