Graduation Requirements

1.  Complete all required coursework at BASD (25 credits)
2.  Meet 1 of the 5 Graduation Pathways
3.  Participate in and complete an Industry-Based Learning Experience

Industry-Based Learning Experience (Replaces Senior Project)

Students will now be required to choose 1 of 3 options to fulfill an Industry-Based Experience requirement.  These experiences are tied to assignments in Naviance and integrated with a Career Exploration Research Assignment.  (The previous requirement of a 20-hour project and presentation are no longer in effect).

Students can begin to work towards the requirements as early as 9th grade.

Industry-Based Standards

5 Graduation Pathways

In accordance with Pennsylvania’s Act 158 of 2018, beginning with the graduating class of 2023, students must meet statewide graduation requirements in one of five ways.

 

  • Pathway 1 - Keystone Proficiency Pathway: Scoring proficient or advanced on each Keystone Exam

  • Pathway 2 - Keystone Composite Pathway: Earning a satisfactory composite score of 4452 on the Keystone exams (while achieving at least a proficient score on at least one of three exams and no less than a basic on the remaining two). 

  • Pathway 3 – CTE Pathway: For Career and Technical Education (CTE) Concentrators, successful completion of Beaver’s Biology, Algebra I, and Literature 10 classes associated with each Keystone Exam on which the student did not achieve proficiency and attainment of an industry-based competency certification related to the CTE Concentrator’s program of study.

  • Pathway 4 - Alternate Assessment Pathway: Successful completion of Beaver’s Biology, Algebra I, and Literature 10 classes associated with each Keystone Exam on which the student did not achieve proficiency and an alternative assessment (Click MORE for details).

  • Pathway 5 - Evidence Based Pathway: Successful completion of Beaver’s Biology, Algebra I, and Literature 10 classes associated with each Keystone Exam on which the student did not achieve proficiency and demonstration of three pieces of evidence consistent with the student’s goals and career plans. Students much achieve a total of 3 pieces of evidence.  (Click MORE for details).
