Beaver Area High School offers a wide variety of online courses through two platforms:
Schoology and Edgenuity.
Schoology courses are developed and taught by BASD teachers and mirror the courses offered in the brick and mortar building. In addition to our core courses, we have the ability to offer AP courses, languages, music, art and even coding. See our handbook for the list of courses that may be available through the Schoology platform. Not all courses are available to all students, because scheduling the Schoology courses is contingent upon the master schedule and teaching schedules. Schoology can provide some synchronous instruction alongside asynchronous instruction.
Please review the Course Registration Bulletin to get an idea of the courses offered, and then call the guidance office to schedule an appointment with your counselor. Edgenuity courses are developed through the Edgenuity online program. Many area school districts use this platform as their primary online program, because of its ease of use, self-contained content, and self-paced learning. The courses are facilitated by BASD teachers, and are provided through a primarily asynchronous environment. Students are expected to keep on pace per quarter to complete courses by the end of the school year and receive credit.
Both Schoology and Edgenuity courses are graded on the BASD grading scale and will count toward students’ cumulative GPAs.
