Student Services Specialist
(12 Month - Act 93 "Special Service Support Personnel" Position)
The Beaver Area School District is seeking a Student Services Specialist. The Student Services Specialist will have an essential role in supporting the Director of Student Services, Special Education Teachers, and the Administrative team by supporting students’ academic, social and emotional growth.
The Student Services Specialist will also play a vital role in ensuring the efficient operation of our special education department. They will collaborate closely with the Director to oversee special education initiatives, facilitate service coordination, and support students with a diverse range of learning needs.
Moreover, the Student Services Specialist will engage in close cooperation with students, parents, and school personnel to cultivate an inclusive learning environment. This role requires a deep commitment to student success and a strong passion for guiding them through various challenges.
For consideration, applicants must possess the following qualifications/certifications:
- Master’s Degree in Education or Special Education, required
Must have at least one of the following active/valid certifications:
- Active/Valid Pennsylvania Principal PK-12 (1115) Administrative Certification
- Active/Valid Pennsylvania Supervisor of Pupil Personnel Services PK-12 (2930) Certification
- Active/Valid Pennsylvania Supervisor of Special Education (9215) Certification
- Active/Valid Pennsylvania PK-12 Certified School Psychologist (1875) Certification
- A required minimum of 3-5 years of experience in Special Education, preferred.
Any addition to the above qualifications/certifications as be determined by the Board of School Directors/Superintendent.

School Social Worker
(Part-Time Position)
The School Social Worker is a trained mental health professional who assists with mental health concerns, behavioral concerns, positive behavioral support, and related academic and classroom support in a school-based setting. The School Social Worker consults with teachers, administrators, and parents/guardians, to support the social-emotional learning and well-being of students in an individual or a group setting, and provides the knowledge and competence required to provide school social work services for all students in grades PK-12 with a focus on preventative and/or problem-solving tools.
The Social Worker will provide and coordinate internal and external services related to the delivery of supports to assigned students at the designated school location, and to provide and coordinate consultation to the school staff to support the overall student services goals.
- The School Social Worker will conduct formal and informal assessments of student functioning, developmental history, family and community structure, interpersonal relationships, adaptive behavior, and cultural factors that may influence learning.
- The School Social Worker will utilize student, family, school, and community assessments to develop appropriate interventions to improve student learning.
- The School Social Worker will develop intervention plans consistent with School Social Worker guidelines to meet student needs, strengths, social and cognitive functioning , and cultural experiences.
The duties of the School Social Worker (PK-12) necessitate the following certification and qualifications:
- The role mandates possession of a Master’s Degree in Social Work.
- Certification as a PK-12 School Social Worker granted by the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE), is preferred. In instances where a PDE certification is not presently held, attainment of certification as a PK-12 School Social Worker Educational Specialist will be mandatory by 08/01/2026.
- The maintenance of said certification is obligatory.
- A desirable qualification is 3-5 years of prior experience.
