Athletic Hall of Fame

Congratulations to the following individuals and team on their induction into the
inaugural class of the Beaver Area Athletic Hall of Fame!

PURPOSE

The purpose of the Beaver Area Athletic Hall of Fame is to recognize and honor those Beaver Area athletes, coaches, teams, administrators, and contributors who excelled in their respective sports or coaching/support roles and who helped to bring honor, recognition, distinction and excellence to Beaver Area by their conduct both on and off the field, or court, of competition.  This recognition will help maintain the spirit, pride and sense of community as well as serving as a historical account of the great athletic traditions of Beaver Area.

DETAILS

All individuals selected to receive this honor will receive special recognition during a hall of fame ceremony in which their name(s), graduation date(s) and sport(s) they participated in throughout their career will be highlighted.

All teams selected to receive this honor will receive special recognition during a hall of fame ceremony in which all members of the team (athletes, coaches, and support staff) will be recognized.

ELIGIBILITY FOR NOMINATION

Candidates are eligible five (5) years after their class’s graduation.  They must be in good standing or in special circumstances as determined by the Hall of Fame Committee. Such candidates  must have competed in a Beaver Area-sanctioned varsity sport and must have excelled in such sport. Among the accomplishments taken into account will be individual  (All-District, All-State, & All-American) and team accomplishments, individual school or team records held, and impact on teams and the overall athletic program at Beaver Area during their era and accomplishments thereafter (ie. intercollegiate, professional, and olympic teams).

Nomination is also open to coaches and administrators, who must have participated with distinction and/or made significant contributions to athletics at Beaver Area, as evidenced, for example, by the success of their teams and the acknowledgment of their former student-athletes.  Such coaches or administrators shall be eligible for nomination beginning five years after they have left Beaver Area for any reason, or in special circumstances as determined by the Committee.

Nomination is also open to Beaver Area-sanctioned varsity athletic teams. Teams will have distinguished themselves with accomplishments above and beyond the normal standards such as undefeated seasons, conference/league championships, district championships, state championships, and/or national recognition. Such teams shall be eligible for nomination beginning five years after their accomplishment(s), or in special circumstances as determined by the Committee.

As determined by the Committee, Contributors will also be considered for nomination based upon their service and dedication to the athletic programs of Beaver Area.

NOMINATION PROCESS

A candidate may be nominated for Hall of Fame membership by any member of the community.  Formal nomination shall be made using the nomination form prescribed for such purpose and made available to the public.  The nomination form must be received by the athletic department by March 1st.  All nominations are to remain confidential, to be shared among the members of the Committee only.  Information relating to a nominee's career statistics, records, achievements, etc. must be supported by accompanying documentation or sources cited so that the information may be verified independently.  The  nomination form will be available through the athletic department and on the school district’s website. The Hall of Fame committee will review all nominations and provide their recommendations for induction to the Beaver Area School Board’s Athletic Committee. The Athletic Committee will review all recommendations and if approved, will provide them to the Beaver Area School Board for final approval in April.

Once presented as an eligible nominee, a candidate who is not elected shall automatically be reconsidered annually until he/she has been considered for five years.  Thereafter, re-nomination may occur at any time. The Committee Chairman will notify any nominator and their nominee in writing if not selected.
